19 Oct Custom Solutions for Green Living
With climate change a hot topic these days, many people are moving toward a greener lifestyle. But what does “green living” mean, and how can we achieve it?
Green living means making sustainable choices in your everyday life, from choosing locally sourced foods to actively recycling. But there’s another way to live green: having an eco-friendly home.
Bella Homes creates eco-luxury, energy efficient homes that are designed to benefit Mother Nature and embrace green living at every opportunity.
Spray Foam Insulation
Our homes are insulated with spray foam, a more effective form of insulation compared to traditional methods such as fiberglass or cellulose. Buildings can shift due to changes in temperature and moisture, but open-cell spray foam is flexible enough to expand and contract with the building. This ensures a long-term seal, effectively reducing the energy needed to heat and cool the home.
We equip our homes with LED lighting packages, which are significantly more efficient and last longer than traditional forms of lighting. Fluorescent lights waste about 95% of their energy to heat, whereas LED lights only lose about 5%. LED lights also last up to 25 times longer than incandescent lighting, reducing the amount of resources needed for replacements. And with less energy required to light your home, there is less demand from power plants – decreasing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions.
We build green at Bella Homes, working hard to source materials and utilize construction practices with minimal impact on the environment. We implement custom reclaimed wood island countertops into the majority of our homes, because reclaimed wood is more eco-friendly than newly sourced lumber. The use of reclaimed wood reduces landfill waste and decreases the amount of deforestation.
High SEER A/C
All our homes are fully equipped with high SEER A/Cs, allowing the home to heat and cool with maximum energy efficiency. Rather than turning off and on throughout the day, high SEER units can consistently run at lower speeds. This provides better temperature control throughout the home, removes twice as much moisture from the humid South Florida air, and requires less energy over time.
Without a doubt, we provide custom solutions for our homeowners to live sustainably in their day-to-day lives. Our green building methods result in a smaller carbon footprint across the board.
